Do It Yourself Mudroom Bench Woodworking Plans

-The Mudroom Bench-

Adding a mudroom bench to your home can provide you with a convenient place to sit while you take off your shoes, as well as a storage area for your coats, hats, and other items. Building your own mudroom bench is a relatively simple project that can be completed in a weekend. The following instructions will show you how to build a mudroom bench that is approximately 48 inches wide and 18 inches deep.

Tools and Materials

-Tape measure

-Plywood

-Circular saw

-High-grit sandpaper

-Stiles

-Construction adhesive

-Cordless drill

-1 inch hole saw

-Paint or sealant

-Screws

-Hinges

-Nuts and bolts

Step One

Measure the desired width and depth of your bench, and then cut a piece of plywood to those dimensions. If you are not comfortable using a circular saw, you can have the plywood cut at your local home improvement store.

Step Two

Sand the edges of the plywood until they are smooth.

Step Three

Apply a layer of construction adhesive to the back of one of the stiles, and then attach it to the plywood. Make sure the stile is flush with the edge of the plywood.

Step Four

Drill a hole in the center of the opposite stile, using a 1 inch hole saw.

Step Five

Apply a layer of construction adhesive to the top of the bench, and then attach the other stile.

Step Six

Secure the hinges to the inside of the stiles.

Step Seven

Attach the screws to the underside of the bench, and then bolt the hinges to the screws.

Step Eight

Paint or seal the bench, if desired.

Headboard Woodworking Plans

When it comes to bedroom furniture, the headboard is one of the most important pieces. Not only does it provide a place to rest your head, but it can also be a decorative focal point in the room. If you’re looking to build your own headboard, there are a number of different woodworking plans you can choose from.

The simplest headboard plan is a basic frame with a padded insert. This is a good option if you want a simple, no-fuss headboard. You can find a variety of padding options at your local fabric store, or you can choose to upholster the headboard yourself.

If you’re looking for a more decorative headboard, you may want to consider a carved design. This type of headboard can be a little more complex to build, but the results are well worth it. There are a number of different carving designs you can choose from, or you can come up with your own.

If you have some experience in woodworking, you may want to consider a more complex headboard design. This type of headboard can include features like shelves or built-in lighting. Be sure to carefully measure the dimensions of your bed before starting your project, so you can ensure that your headboard will be the right size.

No matter what type of headboard you choose to build, be sure to use high-quality wood for the best results. You may want to consider using a hardwood like oak or cherry, or a softer wood like pine or cedar. Whichever type of wood you choose, be sure to sand and finish it properly for a beautiful, polished look.

Building your own headboard can be a fun and rewarding project. With the right plans and the right materials, you can create a headboard that will perfectly match your bedroom decor.
